The short version
speakup runs entirely in your browser. We don't create accounts, we don't upload your voice, and we don't store your session history on any server. Your streaks, XP, transcripts, and settings live only on your device.
What we store on your device
Using the app creates entries in your browser's localStorage so your progress persists between visits. This includes: session history (date, game, word count, transcript), your streak and XP, your chosen language, your display name, and whether you've unlocked premium. You can clear this at any time from your browser settings or the History page → Clear button.
Microphone access
When you start a game, your browser asks permission to use the microphone. Audio is processed by your browser's built-in speech recognition and never leaves your device through us. We do not record or transmit audio.
Analytics
We use Vercel Analytics to understand aggregate traffic patterns (page views, country-level geography, referrers). This data is anonymous and not tied to any personal identifier. No cookies are set.
Waitlist email
If you submit your email on the pricing page, we'll use it only to notify you when paid plans launch. You can reply to the first email to be removed.
